maybe I feel compelled to draw people - these ordinary people - to commemorate something, to pin the fact that they exist to my collection like butterflies - to prove that they, and by extension I, matter and put it in a bottle and send it out to sea again. I’m like radar pinging every encounter that I make in time and space, trying to make a map that says I exist - that everything exists.
